Community Care Law

We have a team dedicated to the burgeoning area of social care law. Our experienced solicitors provide advice to a number of local authority and public agency clients in areas such as mental health, vulnerable adults and elderly service users, care for substance abusers, services for people subject to immigration control (including asylum seekers).

We understand the practical and real concerns that face our clients in providing services to wide ranging user groups and individuals. We can assist in applying law and policy to real problems.

We understand how Human Rights affect our clients and their service users. We help our clients to resolve disputes in connection with authority responsibility, assessment and service provision and charging including in connection with Direct Payments.

Where litigation cannot be avoided, we assist our clients through the process. This can include judicial review. We also represent clients in inherent jurisdiction and Court of Protection proceedings.

We provide both telephone and written advice and often respond to requests for assistance at very short notice in cases of urgency. We provide advice from care manager to director level.

In this diverse and rapidly changing area of practice, the legislation, case law and guidance is dense. Our specialised team has up to date knowledge and practical experience.
