History

Creighton & Partners was formed on 1 April 1999 and we specialise in family and children law, and community care.

The original members of the firm were previously employed by Westminster City Council and provided legal services to the Social Services Department. In 1999, the team formed a private practice firm and bid successfully for the contract to provide legal services to the Social Services Department.

Westminster's Department of Children and Community Health has continued to be an important client to us since then. However, as well as advising Westminster, we have developed our client base. We now represent a variety of other Local Authorities, as well as representing parents, children and other family members in both private and public proceedings.

All our solicitors have extensive experience in the area of family law, including child care law, community care and adoption and have developed a high level of knowledge and skill. The team has a good relationship with the courts and child care professionals.

The partnership is led by Louise Creighton who has specialised solely in Social Services law since 1987. She is a member of the Children Panel. The other partners, Tracy Chester, Douglas Taylor, Tony McGovern and Deborah Marsden have extensive experience in child care proceedings. They are also members of the Children Panel.

Our Head Office is located at 24 Bedford Square WC1 which is convenient for all the main courts, particularly for Inner London – Inner London Family Proceedings Court, the Principal Registry of the Family Division and the Royal Courts of Justice, and for public transport links.

A branch office in Staines, Middlesex was established in February 2008 to provide specialist legal services to Surrey and West London.
